The desktop edition should run on your Android device just fine – the Adobe AIR framework is already in the Andriod Market. There might be issues, but they are most likely the fault of Adobe, not Google or Doc Wicked.
Does this work on the iphone/itouch as well?
It’s iPad only at this time but in the future there will be an iPhone version.
It almost makes me want to buy an iPad just so I can use this. Some of these features are really shiny… will the desktop edition ever be updated with improved tools/toys?
My biggest hitch in using WoD is that it’s great when you have a blank scene to work on, but once you’re at the stage when you’ve got a half-written mess that you want to add to, WoD is less useful. But I could easily imagine an editor interface that auto-calculated the word count of a large chunk of pasted text and adjusted your writing goal accordingly.

I seem to have a knack for checking this website very soon after product releases. I checked the website within 36 hours after edit-minion was posted, and I don’t check this website more than once ever couple of months… creepy.
I may be the only person who uses the iPhone/external keyboard for larger writing projects, but any chance for a scaled down version on phones?
Have you considered making an app for Android phones (phones first, please!) and tablets?
HELP!!!! I don’t know where else to put this, but I can’t get my words off the iPad Write or Die! It won’t save my email address, allow me to link my Dropbox, or even let me copy the text and paste it into Pages so it can settle safely in the iCloud. I’ve banged out 6,000 words in the last 24 hours and now I’m all scared and stuff…
Does it give you an error when you try to save your email in the settings page? For some reason I can’t get Copy to Clipboard to work either but saving my email in settings, then going into the file window and emailing works for me.
If all else fails, connect your iPad to your computer and look under the Apps tab, at the bottom of that screen is the file sharing area, you should be able to grab the text files and drag them to your desktop from there.
When I enter my email address, hit ‘done’, and then go back into the app to send, it tells me the I have not entered an email address. But your suggestion to pull them out through iTunes worked. So I’m happy again :-)

Has anyone else had problems with Dropbox working in general after installing WoD? I’ve just noticed that while the dropbox function of WoD hasn’t worked, my DP has not been updating on my Ipad since around when I installed WoD. Not sure if it stopped working at exactly the same time, but within a couple of days of it being installed.
my dropbox function hasn’t worked since I bought the app. keep getting an error saying something about tokens not available.
email works though, so that’s how I’ve been sending the files.
You should make an itunes app store version of it for desktops because I don’t have paypal but I’d by it in a heartbeat if it was on itunes.
My hope is that the next upgrade of the desktop version will be on the Mac App store.
I’ve used the web version for years and love. I’m having some trouble with the iPad version though. When I tried to link to Dropbox a message says “While this app is in development mod only the owner can receive an access token.” When I pressed cancel to exit the link window nothing happens. It’s stuck in the link window. Any suggestions?

I’m having the same issue. Rebooting the iPad was the only way I could get the link window off the screen. I’ve tried it a few times – I get the same message and have to reboot each time.

The same thing is happening to me. I go in and out of the app a few times to get out of the drop box window. I have cut and pasted my writing into WriteRoom or pages after each session.

Would you mind if I started a Facebook group for word wars called “Write or Die Word Wars?” I think it’d help if people could post on the page that they wanted to have a word war, all in the same place. :)
I added a reply about the dropbox issue above, but have another issue. The Nyan Cat mode makes the keyboard freeze so that I can’t get out of the writing screen without rebooting the iPad. I can move the keyboard using the split screen and then dock it again, but can’t close the window. When I hit done, the keyboard flashes off but comes right back again. I’ve tried all the other modes and they work fine, it’s just the Nyan Cat mode.
I just had to reboot my iPad and lost everything I had typed today. Grrrrrrrr.

Any chance that the ‘story sparks’ will make it into the desktop or web app? I’d totally pay the $10 for a desktop version that had that feature, but I have zero plans to own an iPad or buy anything that requires interacting with the iTunes store.

Hi, I bought the iPad app for NaNoWriMo, and I can’t get it to work. Everytime I try run the app, it glitches and shuts down immediately. Is there anything you recommend doing to make it work? I love the web write or die program, and I was really excited to have one on the go too.

Wonderful. Ingenious. One of the most brilliant ideas I have ever seen. I am a WriMo so, as you can probably imagine, I am quite grateful to have this tool to add to my (woefully under-stocked) handy utility belt of equipment for aspiring writers. I do not have the desktop version yet, as I just stumbled across this fabulous little creation this morning. But I will own it by the end of the day! My only question for you, Dr. Wicked, is this:
When will you have a sing-along blog? Dr. Horrible has one, and he isn’t even as cool as you.

I want it, but I plunked down my Hamilton on the desktop version a few months ago. *sniffs* So it will wait until I feel I have the spare change to fork over. Gotta keep to my app budget — and I just bought Epic Win! to help my son do his chores :) (a productivity app that is somewhat vaguely related to Write or Die! in that it thinks outside of the box by making your real-life todos/chores the “quests” in a game and completing your chores raises your character in levels).
There is an Autosave option in the ipad app but where does it save to? Write or Die closed unexpectedly and my day’s writing has disappeared. There is no ‘my documents’ foulder on the ipad.
Why isn’t the online working anymore? I cannot buy it because my parents won’t let me…

Hi I paid for and downloaded the iPhone app and when I double click it the load screen comes up and then it crashes out almost immediately. What’s up with that? I tried deleting it and reinstalling with the same result. I really want to use it hope you put out a fix soon.
I’ve used write or die for PC for the past three NoWriMo. Last year, I bought it for ipad. I now have a love-hate relationship with it. I can’t get my writing out!! I can’t seem to copy it out!! It keeps freezing on me. I am afraid to delete the app and reload it because then I’ll loose all my work!! Help me love this app again and save my work and start writing again!!! Please!!
I’d also like to know if you have any plans for developing an Android version. (Android supports Adobe AIR, so hopefully it wouldn’t be like having to start from scratch.) I’ll never own an iPad, but my Transformer goes everywhere with me, and it’d be great to have WoD available on it as well as my PC.
