So, have we given up on getting a download of Write or Die if we paid before? I still can’t acess it. Do you think if I paid again it would install?
Help! I just recently bought this program to use on my Mac. My daughter recently bought it to use on her PC and loves it. But it does not work on my Mac—there’s no place to click to actually start writing and using it. I emailed several times and tried contacting you through the website to no avail. Noticed that there were many questions from other Mac users in the same boat, going back close to a year with no replies, and figured maybe Dr. Wicked had passed on or something.
I was in the process of trying to get a paypal refund tonight, came to this page to be sure i had the right web address…and saw that Dr Wicked had just recently posted!! GREAT news, because I’d much prefer to get the program working, than to try for a refund! SOoooo…..please, can you help me get this to work on my Mac?? Thanks!
I don’t think you should pay again. Since it is a problem of some kind, I want to wait until I get something back on my complaint.
It’s not a “problem”, it’s a scam. The developer’s lost interest, but rather than taking down the payment option, he continues taking money with no intention of delivering. It’s been going on for over a year now; I just wish there was a way to warn people before they clicked purchase. If you’re within the 45 day Paypal dispute period, try filing through them – maybe the threat of not being able to keep the money will motivate him.
Well, I’m not sure if I could, but if all the people who paid and didn’t get it want to try, we could get them the program via email or something. I just gave mine to a friend because of the payment issue, and it works from computer to computer. I don’t know enough about this to like, actually do it, though. Anyone up to help out?
Not really. I bought this in November and it completely works. I don’t understand where you get the idea that he is stealing money for over a year.

The iPad app no longer appears when I search the app store (I get a response of “Your search had no results” when I input “write or die” into the search field) and the link on the site no longer works… Has it been removed for some reason?
Ok, apparently it’s still available in the U.S. store, just not internationally. :/
I get quite the opposite problem. The message I get when I try to go to the App Store page is that this app is NOT available in the U.S. Bit of a problem there.

This has been my experience as well. The app can’t be found in my version of the store (a non-US version). Anyone have any idea if it will be back?

It’s not available in ANY iTunes store. If you’re in the US it says it’s not available in the US store and if you’re international then it says it’s ONLY available in the US store.

Hi I bought the app on my ipad, but I can’t open up existing projects or delete the project to start over. I was wondering what happen to the app on itunes. I can not add projects from my computer and open to work on. Please help

Just wondering when a final working version of your ipad app might be available. I notice that you’ve removed it from the Appstore for new buyers, but what about the many who have already bought it? It’s currently in only a semi-usable state – no support for google docs (and even trying causes the app to crash), no dropbox and the email save option doesn’t work. The only effective way to save work is to clipboard. Also, it would be great to have an option to remove the WPM and word count from the screen – we can already see word count on the meter at the top.
Any chance of letting me know when a non-beta release might be ready?

I just wanted to leave an updated note here to let everyone know that the most recent software update appears to have taken care of all of the issues I was having with the program. It’s now running absolutely perfectly and I couldn’t be happier. Wonderful! Thank you, Dr. Wicked, for producing such an excellent writing tool.

I have to say how much I love your app, Dr. Wicked. I’ve used it before. The only problem for me as a writer was sometimes that I was addicted to the Internet completely so I would X out of Write or Die when I just “had to” check that email. I needed something hard core. That’s why I created something that totally compliments Write or Die, it actually blocks me completely from using the Internet until I’ve written my word count. Is there something I need to do to get the time on the web app working. Right now it just sits there and lets me type or not type and it just doesn’t care. What’s up with that? Where are my annoying sound effects to keep me on task?
I tried to e-mail a new link request because my installation isn’t working–the e-mail bounced back.
I can’t imagine what a pain it would be to sort through download requests and verify that they’re all legit. IMHO it was overly generous off him to offer to send new links in the first place. Be happy if you got one.
I’d love it if the app were to re-appear in the app store, however. The web-based version of Write or Die has been amazing for me, and I want to pay you somehow.

This is complete and utter bullshit. I bought this program in August and STILL haven’t seen squat, despite multiple emails to the author’s Paypal listed email, as well as his link in the original post. What a fucking scam.
It is really unethical to continue to accept money for your product when you obviously are not fixing issues associated with that product nor are you responding to several emails for help.

Word War hasn’t worked in a year, at least. The servers for it don’t even exist anymore. Yet it’s still advertised as a feature – and saying it’s in beta is completely different to it being utterly broken forever. The iPad app was all near unusable with bugs before it vanished from the App Store without a word. Support posts on the forum dating back over a year remain unanswered.
And now it looks like he’s continuing to sell it and not even bothering to send people who paid the download link once he has their money.
He’s obviously still alive and has internet access, though, since his twitter updates fairly regularly.
Maybe he thinks he doesn’t have to bother because it’s “only ten dollars”, or whatever, but it’s starting to look like a deliberate scam to me. It wouldn’t take that much effort to take the purchase links down if he doesn’t want to sell this anymore. Wish there was a way to warn potential buyers that they’re not going to get what they pay for. :/
Try contacting him via twitter. I did, and after 3 tweets and 3 emails (and about 2 weeks) he sent me a new link that I was able to download. Still love the program! It was a rough two weeks writing without it.
I’m not getting a twitter account for the sole purpose of trying to get some asshole to actually support/deliver his product. That’s fucking stupid.
I will contact him via Twitter. What is his Twitter? Write or Die? I have been trying to get a hold of him for over a month so that I can get a new link since having to replace my old computer. That is my biggest disappointment in this product that has picked me up so many times when I have had writer’s block.

People, I strongly encourage you to tell other people not to buy but to sue and report to BBB and the attorney general of their state. This is an UNETHICAL BUSINESS! We need to keep people accountable for their business practices. Otherwise, if you keep silent and look the other way, you are part of the problem. This man has taken money from people over 166 days and STILL refuses to fix the problem but has no problem taking your money for something that doesn’t work!
If you are sorry then why are we still waiting for links? I’m sorry but I think this is a great product with poor customer service.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. It has been a year since I originally requested a new link that works…he keeps sending a link he KNOWS doesn’t work to get people off his back. It is a bait and switch scam. He is profuse with false apologies but when you go to his twitter it is obvious he is not working on it nor is he concerned.

I am glad you got yours. Most people do not as you can see on the website. Also if you read his tweets…he is not working on it at all. He is happily pursuing other projects. He responded to me on twitter when I asked him to send me a new link then apologized when of course that link didn’t work (and he knew it wouldn’t because it is the same one he keeps sending) But, he did not respond when I asked him why he continued to accept money from people when he knows there is something wrong with his product. I keep writing hoping to warn others hopefully who read his site before buying.
A professional would work around the clock to come up with a patch within days or weeks not years. This guy is neither a professional nor does he cares. Don’t believe me? Then why does he STILL accept money from new people KNOWING his product does not work?

I sent you an email about three months ago and then another one about two months ago requesting a new download link because my previous computer crashed and I had to get a new one, therefore there was no way for me to continue using it even though I only had the program for about three months, I think. I wish I had been able to get more use out of it. I would chalk it all up to a loss but I really enjoyed the program and got a lot of use out it so I will continue sending you messages here and there in the hope that you will eventually respond. Perhaps, one day.

I bought this with some trepidation after reading the comment thread, but then decided to risk it because I love the program. Luckily, I got a working link thirty minutes after the bill was confirmed. :)

Also had the same concern looking at the comments, but again received a working link within 30 minutes of paying, so all good so far.
I think he has finally, after over 200 days of people not receiving the link that works and requesting a link over and over again…FINALLY he has done something to correct the problem with the link. I finally got my link that works about a week ago…that is probably why new folks here got theirs right away. Still, that does not excuse the really lousy and unprofessional customer service/support.
